>Finished reading Lottery

>Finished reading Lottery early this morning. The second half of the book is much better than the first half, I must say. (I was having a heck of a time staying awake reading the first half…every time I sat down to read it, I kept falling asleep. NOT good for mystery/suspense.)

So, as usual, the beginning needs work. I’m going to start doing some back-plotting to figure out where I got off (or where I *should* have started the story). I just need a couple more exciting plot points at the beginning, I think, to clean it up plot-wise. Then, I have lots of editing to do to make it sing a tune! LOL

I do think I’ll be able to get it done by the end of June though, so that’s something. Still not sure which line it really would go with. The crime itself is so disgusting it would never fly with Harlequin, so they are out. The ***** (no spoilers here!) ends up being the rapist, which is completely disgusting how it’s donethe villain is off the proverbial rocker, but it all ties together pretty well by the end. But needless to say, not Harlequin material. So, not sure what I’ll do with it when it’s done.

There are some motivation issues for the heroine to be ironed out and the whole theme of the story at the moment hits the reader over the head, so that’s gonna take some work to fix. But the good news–I can see the whole forest now, and I can chop down some trees and make it work.
