I was only at 5k on Friday night, so I had Saturday and Sunday to write 15,000 words, which for anyone who doesn’t know this that’s about 60 manuscript pages. Okay, it’s a LOT for 2 days work. I’m sure there are writers out there writing 30 pages in a day, but normally, I am NOT one of them.
I knew I couldn’t type enough to get it done…my wrists would give out before I got the first 30. So, I hunted all over the darn house for my headset, (finally found it in kid’s play handbag…how it got there I’ll never know), and cranked up the voice activated software. Then, I locked myself in a room and started talking. We’re talking hours of talking here.
I finished it Sunday afternoon. Now, I’m not saying that it’s good by any means…as a matter of fact, it’s all over the place. I wrote it completely out of order because the original set up motivation was just NOT enough to carry a whole book. That’s what went wrong. So, along the way, I figured out the ending and wrote that. Then I thought of a good kidnap scene and wrote that. Then I backtracked and added a scene where the hero/heroine are searching for something and find it.
Seriously, it needs some major edit work, but I did get it done. So, yea. I said I was going to do it, and I did, good, bad or otherwise. My father always says, “Do something, even if it’s wrong.” Today, I made him proud! LOL
