How long does a story need to be? 10,000 words? Four hundred pages? What about quite a bit shorter? Can you write an engaging paranormal story in under 1000 words? If so, try your hand at the first annual Bump in the Night, Flash Fiction Contest.

All entries sent by mail or email must be received by noon on October 24, 2008.
Entries will also be accepted in person at the Pittsburgh Mills Borders between 1:00-2:00 PM on October 25, 2008. The contest will be judged at 2:00 PM and winners will be announced at 3:00 PM. If the number of entries require more time for judging, winners will be announced no later than October 31, 2008 via chapter website. http://wprw.wordpress.com.
Judged by published authors (and chapter members as needed) from the Western PA area. Entries will be evaluated in three areas.
1. Does the story engage the reader. This is an overall judgment of the story.
2. Readability – This evaluates the ability and craft of writing.
3. Paranormal theme – story does not need to be romantic or in any particular genre but must include strong paranormal elements.
